べつに【別に】

〔格別に〕 particularly; in particular; specially.

●別に…ない[なく] not particularly…

・別にこれという理由もなく without any particular reason.

●別に変わった話もない. I have nothing particular to tell you.

・別にこれという用もない. I've nothing very special to attend to.

・納豆は好きじゃないだけで, 別に嫌いだというのではない. I don't like nattō; but it's not that I (positively) dislike it.

・「寒くないですか」「いや別に」 “Aren't you cold?”―“No, not particularly.”

・きのうの彼には別に変わった様子もなかった. There was nothing particularly strange about the way he acted yesterday.

・「行きたくないの?」「別にそういうわけじゃないけど」 “Don't you want to go?”―“It isn't that.”
